Child Safety Seat Information

A infant should be rear
facing for one year and 20 lbs. (state law) (RECOMMENDED TO STAY REAR FACING
UP TO 35 LBS.) |

A child must be
restrained in a safety seat until age 5. |
 |
A child safety seat
should be secure in a car so that it has less than one inch of movement along
the belt. |
 |
Children 12 and under
should always ride in the back seat. Air bags can seriously injure or kill a
child. |
 |
Note; never place a rear
facing infant seat in front of an airbag. |
Massachusetts Child Passenger Safety Law
 |
Children under 5 years
old and weigh less than 40 lbs. MUST ride in a child safety seat. |
 |
Children under 5
weighing more than 40 lbs must ride in a booster seat. |
 |
Children 5 and older and
weighing more than 40 lbs. must wear a safety belt. A booster seat is
recommended to ensure the safety belt fits properly. |
 |
A police officer can
stop your vehicle if a child 12 and under is not properly restrained. |
